As I said, it's a bit of an homage towards your mother. One buys her a present, or makes one for her. Pick a bouquet of flowers or write her a card. Alternatively, simply spend some extra time with her. I'm afraid the library isn't all-knowing on the subject, so there might be other ways to handle this custom.

Considering most our mothers aren't in this village, though, I believe the best way to celebrate the holiday would be to take some time and commemorate her.
