~ 21 [Action]

[One of our resident school teachers has just finished one of those important household tasks we must all face: grocery shopping. Of course, it's not so much shopping as stocking, considering the lack of a cash register in every store. Gelda's making her way back to her house, carrying two large bags filled to the brim with an assortment of groceries. Are they heavy? Yes. Yes, they are. She isn't going to complain, but if one were to offer her a hand, she wouldn't say no.

(hint hint)]

[Oh look, yet another one of Gelda's best students!]

Ah, Hermoine. Only if you have some time to spare. I wouldn't want to keep you if you're busy.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-11-21 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[She offers what can pass for a smile, but it's not the bright one she normally has on and shakes her head.]

Not at all. I wasn't actually doing anything but walking around a little bit.

How have you been? I don't think we've met outside of class before.

[She notices the mild difference in mood, but decides to let it slip. We all have days when we're feeling a bit down in the dumps, after all. If it's something Hermoine wants to talk about, she's willing to listen, but for now she'll hold out the slightly less heavy bag for the girl to take.]

I've been perfectly fine, thank you. Somehow, there is always something to keep me busy in this village. How about you?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-01 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hermione takes it willingly, shifting her handbag so she can hold onto both. The handbag showed up a couple of weeks ago and hasn't left her side. Anyone who's been around her at all will be familiar with the fact that has it... not necessarily what it does... yet.]

I'm glad to hear it. I've been all right. [She only sounds about halfway all right, though.] Some days I feel as though I have too much to do and others I don't have enough.

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Gelda gives a soft chuckle at that.]

Would you like more homework, then? I'm sure Professor Sage and I could come up with a nice assignment.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[This seems to brighten her a little bit and those who know her will find this is no surprise.]

I'd love some. What kind of project should I work on? [You realise she's going to obsess over this now, right?]

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-02 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[... Oh. Gelda was joking. She didn't think Hermoine would agree, though considering the girl's diligence, she really should've expected it.]

Hm... Have you done much research about the Filial spirits yet?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[she'll learn. Hermione smiles again.]

I have, but I haven't had the chance to actually call for one yet. [You can test her if you'd like. She's probably already proven enough times in class that she's the equivalent of a human dictionary and textbook.]

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Why just a test if we can turn it into a project?]

Perhaps you can try comparing Filial magic to the magic indigenous in your own world. It should be worthy of a nice essay.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[oh this will make her happy. Too bad it'll have to wait til after she gets over Ron's disappearance XD]

I can do that with the basic idea of both already. [She's done her research, this one has.] However, I would also want to add in a comparison of their practical uses. For instance, how each type of magic also has different branches associated with it and each branch is very different from the next. Do you have a specific length you'd like me to shoot for?

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[O-oh dear. What manner of monstrosity has Gelda released upon the world by allowing Hermoine to do this?]

That sounds fine. I'd say it shouldn't be any more than fifteen pages. Five is an acceptable minimum, correct?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nothing more than usual. At the very least, she'll keep Hermione busy for a bit.

[The length makes her blink though and she has to do a quick translation in her head.]

All right. I should be able to do that. [Easily and willingly, even.] Anything else to go with it? [And she's starting to sound really excited about this. Hell if she's going to leave anything out.] Perhaps the process I go through with learning the new magic?

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[Luceti's school doesn't use scrolls of parchment. Not as standard material, anyway. Sorry, Hermoine.]

If you can fit it into the fifteen pages, by all means, feel free to be as elaborate as you like.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[good thing she's Muggle born and can do that translation in her head.]

All right! I will! Thank you, Professor! [At least she's not the kind of student who causes trouble when she's bored.]

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is very true. At least she's no Draco Malfoy. Gelda chuckles softly.]

You're most welcome. I expect an interesting read.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[Indeed. The most she does is read everything she can get her hands on and then spout it all from memory. Which she's likely done in class a couple of times already.]

It should be. My magic is quite different from anything else I've seen here. [And she's already planning on adding in sections about Muggles and how she found out she had magic versus how Filial magic is acquired.]

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, if writing obscenely long essays is what makes Hermoine happy... Anyway, they're nearing the house now.]

It just goes to show that Luceti never ceases to amaze.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a very unique place. Learning about all these different people is interesting. Everyone has something new to contribute, or a different perspective on everything. It's fascinating. [She's still happily carrying the bag, and she looks like she's brightened up even further. Essays are her best friend. After all, part of her Amortentia smell is new parchment.]

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-03 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hermoine's mood has brightened, which means Gelda's job is done here. It still sucks that Ron is gone, of course, but at least Hermoine has something to keep her mind off things now.]

Indeed. As long as you harbor a curiosity towards other worlds, you won't find yourself growing bored in the least.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[When in doubt, give her homework.]

Of course. [She's going to walk as far as you want her to before setting the bag down / handing it to you again.] It's much more interesting learning about other magic and other worlds. Learning anything at all makes the environment more interesting.

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[She'll accept the bag herself. It isn't that much trouble to carry it the rest of the way, really.]

This is exactly why I'm glad so many children are attending school here.

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[She feels badly that they aren't quite there yet, but it's close enough, right?]

It's rather exciting to see so many people interested in learning so much. The subject matter is different and yet familiar for me. I love every minute of school, but I always have.

[identity profile] fonon-professor.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's definitely close enough, especially considering the fact that she initially intended to do walk the entire distance by herself.]

The lessons are challenging enough for you, I hope?

[identity profile] loyalotter.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[And that just wouldn't do with Hermione around.]

Of course, though I will never turn down a chance to do more.

Diligence is a fine trait to have.
