[One of our resident school teachers has just finished one of those important household tasks we must all face: grocery shopping. Of course, it's not so much shopping as stocking, considering the lack of a cash register in every store. Gelda's making her way back to her house, carrying two large bags filled to the brim with an assortment of groceries. Are they heavy? Yes. Yes, they are. She isn't going to complain, but if one were to offer her a hand, she wouldn't say no.

[And Regal is in the kitchen busy making a big pot of soup now that it's the right weather for that sort of thing. His housemate should be back with the groceries any minute now...]

[Oh, nice hot soup. That's just what Gelda needed. The smell already reaches her nose when she enters the house and a thankful smile appears on her face. After disposing of her coat, she carries both grocery bags into the kitchen and dumps them onto the table.]

Something smells excellent.

[He can leave the soup unattended long enough to come over and give her a quick hug and a kiss on the forehead, which is what he's going to do. Really, Gelda, he wouldn't have objected to getting the groceries himself so you didn't have to lug those heavy bags around in the cold.]

I only hope it tastes as excellent as it smells. Would you like some tea?

[She enjoys the shopping, really. It gives her something to do in the weekends, when she's not spending time at the school. She's just not one to sit still. At the kiss on her forehead, she gives a gentle smile. Still such a gentleman, Regal.]

I'd love some, thank you.

[He'll set to work preparing a kettle of water and getting out two teacups and saucers, then. It's appropriate weather for tea and soup, that much is for sure. In fact, he's starting to wonder just how much snow they're going to get this year.]

I'd imagine you must be enjoying this weather far more than the summer heat.

[Gelda's hoping they'll get quite a nice amount of snow, herself. Somehow, seeing everything covered in a sparkling white blanket soothes her nerves. She's also looking forward to arranging a few snowball fights followed by mugs of hot cocoa, just like the old days.]

While the heat definitely had its perks, I do prefer the winter days, yes. It makes me feel more... at home.

[Regal isn't so dignified that he can't enjoy a snowball fight every now and then, though chances are Lloyd, Colette, Genis and the younger ones will be the most enthusiastic about such prospects. The snow is definitely soothing, however. He's finding that he enjoys simply sitting and looking out the window at it-- as long as he doesn't actually have to be out in the cold.]

I'm afraid it's the opposite for me. But there is something to be said for how peaceful it is to watch the snow fall while sitting by a fire with a hot cup of tea...

Once winter's fully arrived, we'll have plenty of opportunities to try that, I'm sure.

[Perhaps they could even huddle under the same blanket. That would be nice and cosy, indeed. She never really got to do that in Keterburg, because she was all alone back then.]

We could always get some practice in now if you are interested.

[It's cold enough out for it, that much is for sure, and he's already making the tea. Now all they'd need to add to the equation is a blanket.]

Of course. It's best to be prepared.

[They have soup, they have hot tea... The weather is nearing frightful... A blanket and a nice fire would certainly add some finishing touches.]

And speaking of preparation, I've been reading up about this Christmas in the library... it would seem there are quite a number of traditions associated with it. If you are interested, we could try a few of them ourselves.

Is that so? [Regal, you tease.] I certainly wouldn't mind trying a few of them before the actual holiday. Which traditions did you have in mind?

[You know you like it.]

Well, one such tradition involves a plant called mistletoe. You hang it from doorways, and whenever two people pass beneath it, tradition says that they have to kiss.

[Gelda wouldn't have it any other way.]

Oh, I remember that tradition. I never did get a chance to try it last year, as there was a severe lack of mistletoe. Now would be a good time to discover if I've been missing out.

I'll ask Aerith if she has any. If not, I'm sure we could find a suitable substitute. After all, as long as it stays inside the house where only we can see it, no one will be the wiser.
