[It's about time for Gelda to check up on Regal again. His recovery's a slow one, but there's definitely been improvement since he was returned last week. A bowl of homemade soup in both hands and her journal clamped underneath her arm, she'll be heading up the stairs. Sadly, recent events have left Gelda a bit more distraught than she'd like to admit. Before she fully realizes what's going on, the journal slips out from underneath her arm and hits the stairs with a bang, leaving her so startled that the soup bowl soon follows its example and bounces all the way down to the first floor. Much to Gelda's displeasure, the journal is ready to record this mishap.]

[Accidental voice]

Ack!

[Bang, bang, bang, smash.]

...I wouldn't say it was just us, but we did play a major part in it.

Then, do you believe Auldrant's near future will be a peaceful one?

[She doesn't know what sort of a world Jade and Saphir have been returned to and it just bugs her. Especially because she has a suspicion Saphir's been up to no good back there and it may come back to haunt him. She knows about the replica and Hod, but nothing about God Generals or how "Dist the Reaper" was arrested.]

Oh, enough. People are too busy coping to start any wars. And there's a treaty in place, besides.

The Score's absence may lead to internal strife. As I'd discovered when I first arrived here, it's a bit tough to decide what to do with oneself without such strong guidance.

Yeah, but His Majesty has been handling it as well as can be expected. It's a little hectic, but I think people have finally gotten tired of the tension between Kimlasca and Malkuth...and since most of those wars were initiated per to the Score's instructions, well.

... I suppose. [She closes her eyes for a moment, taking a sip of wine. She wasn't talking about actual war, but on the other hand, conflict is conflict. If people have gotten tired of the tension, they might stay out of trouble.]

[Oh yeah, Guy knew what she was talking about. He just decided to dodge it.]

Are you worried about Jade and Dist, or just curious?

[She manages a smile, but it comes out somewhat bitter.] A bit of both, I suppose.

[He sees that expression, Professor.] It's an interesting time to live in...but it's also a time that can be done without. With any luck, we'll find a way to bring people back with us and you'll see for yourself first hand.

[And now she's forcefully reminded of Regal, who also hopes to find a way to bring Gelda to Aselia with him. She's not too hopeful about either prospect, to tell the truth, but going back to Auldrant seems even worse.] ... As wonderful as it'd be to see my home world again, I don't think I would take the chance to return. It just... isn't my place to be, anymore.

Fair enough.

I don't think I'll be going back either.

[That caught her by surprise, actually. She'd expected Guy to be the kind of person who'd be happy to go home.] Oh? Is there any particular reason why?

There's a few. [Guy refills her glass with a smile. That's probably a "but I would like to keep them to myself" smile there.]

[She's caught the hint quite quickly and decides not to pry.] Then, if it's up to us, we'll both be here for quite some time.

Score willing. [He pauses.] Or...us, I guess. Or whatever driving force we have here.

It may even be that this world has a memory of its own, which none of us are able to read.

You might be right. But it's so strange to think that the ground we're walking on doesn't have a single fonon in it.

The physical laws we've known to be true don't apply in this world anymore. Even the amount of months in a year is different. It does make one wonder about the laws of Luceti.

I know! How are we supposed to celebrate our birthdays? I suppose I could count back, but that's so much work...

Wouldn't it also depend on what day it was in Auldrant when we were taken? If that date doesn't correspond with the date of arrival in Luceti, it still wouldn't mean too much.

Well, I would just count the days back; it'd be every two or so passings of this year that-
