[It's about time for Gelda to check up on Regal again. His recovery's a slow one, but there's definitely been improvement since he was returned last week. A bowl of homemade soup in both hands and her journal clamped underneath her arm, she'll be heading up the stairs. Sadly, recent events have left Gelda a bit more distraught than she'd like to admit. Before she fully realizes what's going on, the journal slips out from underneath her arm and hits the stairs with a bang, leaving her so startled that the soup bowl soon follows its example and bounces all the way down to the first floor. Much to Gelda's displeasure, the journal is ready to record this mishap.]

[Accidental voice]

Ack!

[Bang, bang, bang, smash.]

[Oh, of course. The hesitation in Nephry's voice is far more noteworthy than that worry, though.]

[she's hesitating for reasons that are different from what you might think]

Well, I'm having a little trouble working out how to ask.

Hm. ...I suppose my problem is that I don't entirely understand it. Most of what I know is secondhand information at best.

[but without Jade around to ask] How much do you know about replicas?

[Hm, that's still a bit of a touchy subject, as Nephry might be able to tell from Gelda's change in composure.]

... Are you referring to the theory involved with their creation?

I'm not looking for a theory discussion. ...You know Auldrant's most recent Fon Master has been staying with us, correct?

Fon Master Ion... Jade told me about him. [She's just not certain which Ion is living with Nephry and co.]

I only heard the full story after his death...mm. At any rate, he was recently kidnapped and returned.

I see... Did the Malnosso go out of their way for another peculiar experiment?

I don't know what they did. To be honest I haven't asked. ...I guess I'm just worried about him.

[She mulls it over for a few seconds, then smiles encouragingly.]

I'm sure that he, like everyone else who is kidnapped, will recover with enough rest. In all my time here, I've never seen someone suffer from permanent damage after individual experimentation.

I didn't know if it would be...different, for him. With all of Luke's talk about disappearing, and...well, knowing what little I do... [sigh] I'm not even sure why I brought this up. I apologize, Professor.

You needn't apologize for something like that. It's perfectly normal to be worried, as is trying to find a way to be of help.

... Yet that shouldn't stop you from looking after your friend. If I did have relevant information, it would've been more than worth it to ask.

[She still hasn't heard everything, no. There's a lot of things Jade conveniently left out of his story when she confronted him back then. As for Dist, well, he changed the topic as soon as possible.] I trust you've been well yourself?

As well as I can be, I believe. ...It's been difficult.

I suppose coping with the situation is the most important thing to do. We'll find more positive things to occupy our thoughts with sooner or later.
