[It's about time for Gelda to check up on Regal again. His recovery's a slow one, but there's definitely been improvement since he was returned last week. A bowl of homemade soup in both hands and her journal clamped underneath her arm, she'll be heading up the stairs. Sadly, recent events have left Gelda a bit more distraught than she'd like to admit. Before she fully realizes what's going on, the journal slips out from underneath her arm and hits the stairs with a bang, leaving her so startled that the soup bowl soon follows its example and bounces all the way down to the first floor. Much to Gelda's displeasure, the journal is ready to record this mishap.]

[Accidental voice]

Ack!

[Bang, bang, bang, smash.]

They are rather difficult to miss when they cover half of the front lawn.

That's true. And while I do enjoy wildflowers around my house, I'm sure a vegetable patch would be just as nice.

What kinds of vegetables would you like?

[Just stroking her back gently now.]

Mm, I doubt it matters too much. Knowing you, you could use any kind of vegetable to whip up a delicious dish.

[And once again, she can't help but wonder what she did to deserve such an amazing boyfriend. If he gets sent home before her, she likely will have a bit of a breakdown, regardless of how selfish it'd be.]

That may be true, but I would still like to know your favorites.

[If he goes back, he's taking her with him. That much he decided long ago.]

[If only it were that easy, Regal. If only.]

... Radishes would be nice. And perhaps some bell peppers, if it's possible to grow those in this climate.

I don't see why not-- it should be temperate enough here for them to thrive.

[She breathes a somewhat content sigh, closing her eyes. Pointless small talk is amazingly reassuring right now.] That's good to know. Tomatoes might be useful as well. They go very nicely in salads or pasta sauce.

Or on pizza.

[... no, he's not quite sure what prompted that either.]

Mm... I wonder if your pizza would rival Azzip's.

I would say there is only one way to find out. How about pizza for dinner?

[She's silent for a moment, not entirely certain if he's being serious or not.] I think it'd be fairly irresponsible of me to let you slave away in front of the stove.

I will need your assistance, of course, but I'm quite well enough to make something as simple as pizza.

Simple? [Regal, your skills are awe-striking. Gelda's idea of a simple dinner is a pasta dish with a relatively plain sauce.]

You would prefer something more elaborate?

Don't be silly. If I ask for anything more elaborate, I may end up scraping you off the kitchen floor by the time you're done.

[That earns her a laugh and a kiss on the top of her head.]

I suppose you do have a point...

[She leans into the embrace, closing her eyes, but she doesn't seem quite at ease.]

Hm... Though, I promised I'd meet Guy at Good Spirits soon.

Then go ahead and take a break-- you have certainly earned it. We can make dinner when you get back, and besides, I would not mind the opportunity to take a short nap.

All right. Then, I'll wake you when I return. [She runs a quick hand through Regal's tangle of blue hair.]

[If she doesn't mind, he'll lean up a bit as if trying to give her a kiss.]

[Oh, fff, fine. She'll lean down to meet his lips with her own, but at the same time she's shifting into a kneeling position so she can crawl off the bed as soon as the kiss is broken.]

[Regal won't protest that at all. Once the kiss is finished, he'll lie back down on the pillows with a soft smile at her.]

[And she'll return that smile all too gladly. Leave it up to Regal to make her feel better. Not completely 'healed', of course, but better.]
