[It's about time for Gelda to check up on Regal again. His recovery's a slow one, but there's definitely been improvement since he was returned last week. A bowl of homemade soup in both hands and her journal clamped underneath her arm, she'll be heading up the stairs. Sadly, recent events have left Gelda a bit more distraught than she'd like to admit. Before she fully realizes what's going on, the journal slips out from underneath her arm and hits the stairs with a bang, leaving her so startled that the soup bowl soon follows its example and bounces all the way down to the first floor. Much to Gelda's displeasure, the journal is ready to record this mishap.]

[Accidental voice]

Ack!

[Bang, bang, bang, smash.]

Ah, Nephry. I dropped something down the stairs, no need to worry.

[Nephry doesn't remember her being so clumsy...]

Are you sure?

[Usually, she wouldn't be so clumsy. She really does need a good night's rest.]

I'm positive. I should have this cleaned up in no time.

[well, she does trust your judgment.]

I'm glad it wasn't something serious. Please let me know if the two of you need anything.

[The problem is getting that rest. She'll try her best, though!]

We could always benefit from a visit.

[well if Nephry does get over there, she'll be getting it]

[After Gelda has that conversation with Guy, though!]

I just need to bring Regal his dinner first, then run a quick errand. I should be back home within an hour from now, though.

Very well.

[and because Nephry is nothing if not prompt and polite, she will be knocking. On Gelda's door about an hour and a half later.]

[That's some excellent timing. Gelda had already returned a while earlier, but she didn't mind the wait. When she answers the door, there's a smile on her face, as always. She seems a bit tired, though.]

Nephry.

[politics is all about timing. Nephry returns the smile and steps inside, noting the tiredness without comment]

[And really, she means that. After two of her old students were sent home, it's reassuring to see Nephry on her doorstep. Or, rather, in the hallway. Gelda closes the door before leading the way into the kitchen.] Can I get you anything?

Only if you have something already prepared. If not, please don't trouble yourself.

I could always offer you some fruit juice.

That's fine.

Let's see... [She opens the refrigerator to have a look inside. Gosh, these newfangled kitchen appliances are going to spoil Gelda in no time.]

Orange or apple?

Apple, I suppose.

Alright. [And she'll take it out to pour a glass for Nephry. The reason they have so much fruit juice in the first place is because Gelda stocked up on it now that Regal's not well, but it's nice to see the stuff serve another purpose. When she's finished, she hands the glass over with a smile.]

[takes the glass with a smile, too]

You won't join me?

Oh, no. I just had a drink not too long ago. [At the bar, but she's decided to leave that bit of information out. The only reason she went there in the first place is because she wanted to speak to Guy for a bit.]

[sitting here with her old teacher drinking fruit juice makes her feel a bit childish again, really]

How is Regal?

[Gelda is perfectly content with that, though. She loves reminiscing on the good old days.]

He's improving. His hearing's almost fully recovered and his sight is getting much better as well.

That's good news. [Gelda will be able to tell that Nephry's been worried, even if her mind was on other things]

...I actually have...a question for you.

[Oh, of course. The hesitation in Nephry's voice is far more noteworthy than that worry, though.]

[she's hesitating for reasons that are different from what you might think]
